Project Scope: The new Elementary School for the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, SC is a 68,000 SF one-story building with a capacity of 450 students. There are 25 general classrooms, which are configured for 18 students each. Other spaces include: Full cafeteria-style kitchen, special education classrooms, resource rooms, art classroom, music classrooms, computer labs, media center, multipurpose room with raised platform and full counseling suites, health room, school supply and storage rooms, student and staff toilets, janitors closets, building utility support rooms (HVAC, electrical, communications, fire protection), and circulation space.
“Sauer performed a difficult and large project on a strict schedule. Despite including more than $1 million dollars in added work to the scope of the project during construction the scheduled completion date remained the same to allow the DoD schools to open the facility for the 2004/2005 school year. The on-site personnel of Sauer were comprised of veteran Superintendent and QC team along with an enthusiastic and determined project manager. Their dedication and skills complemented the team which was the core of the success of this project. Sauer was a pleasure to work with, primarily due to their professional staff." -Navy
