Project Status: Completed

Project Scope: This project included a new 15,250 SF elevated central energy plant to support the Keesler Medical Center. The new facility replaced existing boilers, chillers, and generators. The project consolidated a boiler and chiller plant with emergency generators and fire pumps in a separate building. This building was designed and constructed to reduce the risk of hurricane damage to emergency power, fire suppression water, chilled water and hot water systems. The resulting plant is capable of supplying emergency power, chilled water and hot water to essential systems in the hospital in the event of a major storm strikes the area and damages the normal power systems within the hospital. The project included conversion of the existing hospital steam system to hot water, and consequently includes work within the hospital mechanical rooms, as well as the new plant. A new electrical room was added to the hospital building's first floor. (1361)
